Come Back to Christ: When Your Calling Is Right In Front Of You

When life feels scattered, it’s tempting to reach for more hustle, more strategies, or more fixes. But the very first step in discovering your calling isn’t doing more. It’s coming back to Christ.

You can’t walk out your purpose if you’re disconnected from the One who created it.

The Season I Drifted

I had a stretch where I was building, planning, and grinding harder than ever. On the outside, things looked fine. On the inside, I was running on empty. I was working for God but not walking with Him.

That’s when John 15:4 hit me:

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”

The fruit I wanted in my life couldn’t come from hustling harder. It could only come from abiding in Him.

Why This Step Matters

Coming back to Christ is the reset button. It’s where you trade striving for surrender and burnout for rest. It’s where you remember that the power to fulfill your calling doesn’t come from your effort. It comes from His presence.

Journal Exercise: Use Your Faith & Focus Bible Journal

1. Write the Scripture
   Start with John 15:4 at the top of the page.

2. Pray It Out
   In My Prayers for Today, write one area where you’ve been running on your own strength. Ask God to bring you back into alignment with Him.

3. Apply It
   Under How can I apply this scripture to my life?, write one simple way you can abide this week. Maybe it’s ten minutes of worship before you start your day, or closing your laptop early to sit with the Word.

4. Reflect
   At the end of the week, use the Reflections section. Did you feel more connected to Christ? How did it change the way you approached your work or relationships?

What I’ve Learned

Every time I wander, I end up exhausted. Every time I come back to Christ, I find peace. The difference isn’t in my circumstances. It’s in my source.
